Guest Post: Teachers working in a professional cooperative

In this video Roxane Mayeur, co-lead teacher at Community High School in Milwaukee, describes the advantages of working in a school run by a teacher cooperative. Community High School is served by a professional practice of teachers operating informally as cooperative.

Roxane describes how she and others decided to form a teacher cooperative because it is easier to get teachers to take responsibility and be accountable for what they do when they are in the decision-making role.

Education|Evolving maintains an inventory of Teacher Professional Partnerships, including a description of the Milwaukee teacher cooperatives, on its website.
